How To Get The Best Deal From A Salvage Cars Auction

If you have been contemplating on buying a car and looking for a good deal then salvage cars auctions or salvage yards are the place for you. But before you run to the nearest salvage car auction and start bidding it would do well if you learn about a few things you ought to know. Although salvage car auctions might be the perfect place where you could buy cars at pretty low prices there are also drawbacks for those who are not habituated with the process of placing bids at auto auctions.

So what are these salvage cars auctions? These are auctions where you mostly find cars that have been taken from insurance claims. Normally when a car meets with an accident the insurance company will assess the damage and if repairing the same goes beyond the value set by the insurance company then it is sold at auctions for salvage cars or at salvage yards.

If you want to get the best deal on a salvage car then you must keep in mind the following points:

Make sure that you inspect the condition of the car before the auction takes place; most car auctions let you do this.
At the auction you might be astonished to see that there are more used car dealers than individuals who are looking to buy their own car. It is profitable for these dealers to buy salvage cars at salvage yards or salvage car auctions work on them and sell them at a much higher price making a tidy sum in profits. Also remember that when you bid you have to pay there and then.
You need to find car auctions; you can look through your local newspapers magazines and in todays fast advancing information technology on the internet as well. There are some websites which even allow you to bid for salvage cars online.

Very few people are aware that there are salvage yards and auctions where they can purchase these salvage cars. Hence secondhand car dealers are very happy that they can buy the used cars overhaul and restore them and sell them at a profit. They can afford to bid higher since they are in the business and with all their experience they know what exactly they need to inspect in a used car before they bid. Most individuals might not spend time at the salvage yards or salvage car auctions as they would be dubious and would rather choose to buy a new car. But if you are really bent on getting a particular make and model that you are interested in look for one at the salvage car auctions.

Besides salvage yards government auctions are also good places to go if you are looking for a good deal in salvage cars. Cars confiscated from defaulters like drug dealers which are normally big luxury cars are sold by the government as it is a problem for them to store these cars. And they are sold at unbelievably high discounts. You can get real beauties this way.

How To Decide Which Used Car To Buy In Pakistan

If you read my previous article “Used Cars An Ideal Choice for a Second Family Car in Pakistan” and you’re convinved that buying a used car is the way forward here are a few tips that will help you secure a good deal.

  1. Decide a Budget: Are you paying cash? Will you be financing uor car? What is your monthly expenditure? How much would you need as a backup in case of emergencies? These are all questions that need to be answered before coming up with a comfortable budget. Don’t overspend and regret it later. Be firm and stick to a comfortable numer.
  2. Decide on the Make: Whether it’s a Toyota Honda Suzuki or Charade make sure you know the resale value of these cars. On a limited budget I would opt for a more popular model with a higher resale value. And remeber its not just the model but also the year of manufacture that counts for example the 2006 Honda Civics were far more popular than the 2007 model and hence have a higher resale value. And you don’t have to stick with one manufacturer.
  3. Decide on Car Specs and Features: Are you looking for a petrol or CNG car? Do you need a power steering? What colour do you prefer? What should the engine capacity be? You should have a fair idea of the effect each of the features will have on the price of a car. Avoid luxurious features that unnecessarily push the price upwards. Stick to the basics and worry more about cost saving features like fuel type. Another suggestion is to avoid dark or very light colours as they accentuate flaws and dust the latter is especially true for Karachi.
  4. Start Looking: Now that you’ve figured out what kind of car you want and for how much you can start searching. I’ve covered how to find a used car for sale in Pakistan in the last article. What you need to remember is to search wide and deep. Just because you think you’ve found the right car after an hour of research does not necessarily mean you actually have. Browse through popular newspapers and online classifieds especially ones with current and daily ads posted.
  5. Make a List: Make a list of cars that fit your budget on Microsoft Excel or on paper and remember to mention the price phone number contcat name and other important features alongside each car. Online classifieds permit you to save your favorite ads in your area of the site so you can access them later. Leave enough space for comments scheduled meetings and followup notes to help you keep a tab on your conversations and negotiations.
  6. Start Calling: What are you waiting for? Call away!

I hope you find these tips helpful in deciding on a budget and the kind of used car you’re going to buy. You can share your comments and feedback in the comments section. In the mean time good luck and happy hunting!

How To Avoid Having An Accident In Bad Conditions

One way to avoid accidents is by not driving in bad weather. For this you should monitor the weather and check the forecasts so that you can plan ahead and dont face unexpected weather conditions on your way and be prepared by having the necessary equipment with you. Bad weather conditions increase the potential risk on the road and you should try to reschedule a trip if possible. However if you do have to make the trip ensuring that your car is in good mechanical condition is very important.

You should make sure that the tyres brakes and windshield wipers are properly functional. Your headlights should not be dirty and the mirrors should be clean. There are some tips that can come in handy in bad weather conditions and can assist you in avoiding accidents. In bad weather you should drive slowly and should always plan the trip and leave extra time so that you dont have to worry about running late. You could also consider an alternate route that is more suitable and has less severe weather conditions. In order to avoid skids and accidents you should drive slowly and keep the space between your vehicle and that ahead of you double than usual. Every car has a different stopping time when brakes are applied. So the driver should be aware of the time the car takes to come to a stop. In order to prevent the car from slipping brakes should be applied gently.

Listen to the local radio while driving so that you are informed about the conditions of the road ahead and you know what to expect and prepare accordingly if required. However you should make sure that you keep the volume of the radio low so that your concentration is not affected. You should keep the headlight beams low when there is fog. This does not only improve the drivers visibility but also makes it possible for the other drivers on the road to see you. It is good to avoid traffic coming from centre line. In order to do that you should try to keep your car to the right side of the road.

It is important for the drivers to keep on adjusting their cars speed as appropriate. When the conditions are bad whether it is snow wind or diminished visibility it is essential for the driver to keep concentrating on the road and not get distracted. As annoying as the bad conditions might be even a slight distraction can cause serious accidents.

If the visibility grows very poor and you think that you are not able to concentrate on the road and your confusion is increasing it is always smart to pull the car over to the side and have a rest while you wait. Your concentration level should be much higher in bad conditions than what it is normally. If there are passengers present in the car they should make sure that they dont distract the driver in any way.
