Fiats Success In India

The history of Fiat dates back to the golden era at the dawn of Italian industrialization. It is believed that Fiat has travelled a long way from 19th century industrialization to 21st century globalization. In this long time period the company has come up with various innovations and expansion plans for the Indian car industry.

Fiat India Pvt. Ltd. is jointly owned by Fiat Auto SpA Fiat India Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. and Premier Automobiles Ltd. In India the company was established in the year 1905. Fiat has its car manufacturing plants at Kurla Mumbai and Rajangaon Pune.

The company entered the Indian market with its old warehouse Fiat Padmini along with the old Indian car Hindustan Ambassador. Fiat Premier Padmini relished the Indian car industry for nearly about two decades. Though the old Padmini has gone into hibernation the name Fiat is still fraught with producing attractive styling and exciting cars.

With the advent of new technology more and more car manufacturers ventured to India to establish their hold in the market and give their customers a wider car selection option. Fiat then introduced the unsuccessful car christened as Fiat 118NE in the Indian market. Most of us have not even heard this name a name that has completely lost in the fast winds of the changing generation.

Fiat again tried to enter the Indian market with improved engine and better car features. The result of this effort was Fiat Uno launched in 1983. It was not a big hit but somehow managed to cross through the ups and downs of the Indian car market. Eventually the car phased out.

Fiat still had a burning desire to establish its foothold in the promising industry. With this burning desire came the successful Fiat Palio. Introduction of Fiat Palio gave Fiat India a reason to smile and enjoy the success of reentering the growing Indian market. It has a stylish elegant and attractive look but unfortunately an ineffective car engine. Though the car didnt failed like the Uno the car sales had slow down with more and more cars coming up in the market loaded with fuelefficient engine.

Fiat also introduced its stunning pathbreaking and award winning 1.3 multi jet diesel engine in the country. Maruti Suzuki was the first buyer of this multijet diesel engine. The company bought this engine from Fiat to load in its super successful car Maruti Suzuki Swift. Just a thought if this award winning engine was fitted in Fiat Palio then the car must have done wonders in the industry.

After Palio Fiat entered the Indian car market with its iconic brand Fiat 500. A two door car is winning accolades across the country because of the exciting attractive and elegant features the car is loaded with. Fiat 500 also has the most advanced engine and is equipped with advanced safety features.

Today Fiat smiles back to the success of Fiat 500 and desire to launch more cars in near future. The launch of Fiat Linea and Grand Punto is also next in pipeline for the Indian car market.
